The Shops at New West

New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

The Plaza is a state-of-the-art TOD (Transit Oriented Development) located at the heart of New Westminster in Greater Vancouver. Featuring over 1.2 Million s.f. of mixed-use development, this 5 acre urban site comprises residential (3 highrise towers, 655 condo units), retail (250,000 s.f.) and office uses constructed on a transportation podium. This podium incorporates the Skytrain Station serving the Expo and Millennium Lines and a regional bus exchange. GRS Canada conceptualized the unique integration of the retail offering to the busy train station platform, with above ground linkage to the Fraser River front and the New Westminster Quay. The high profile retail component is anchored by Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart, and serves as the prototype for densified urban TOD programs in Canada.
